This week was pretty routine. We didn't have any days off or anything like that. I had an APUSH test this week and it went pretty well for me. I got an 85% while the class average was 79%. I'm pretty happy about that because it will raise my grade. Also this week the play She Kills Monsters opened up at school so people should go to that. I heard it had really great visuals. Next week will be the last week before winter break. I'm counting down the days and can't wait to relax for 2 straight weeks.

Week 13 of School
I really did not want to come to school this week. I got accustomed to a certain no school life while on Thanksgiving break. On top of that we actually had to go to school the whole week. There where no days off like we had every week last month. We did have a shortened day on Thursday though so that was kind of nice. I had to dress up for a project in APUSH on Friday. My costume was not that great, but I still brought in a bag of rice and seeds as a prop. I also had to do a little dance that I did not rehearse for.

Week 12 of School
We had a very short weekend followed by a very long weekend. This week we only went to school on Monday and Tuesday and then we had Thanksgiving break from Wednesday to Sunday. I took advantage of this break to catch up on sleep and slept until 12:00 most days. Not much happened at school since we only went two days this week so I'll talk about my break. I didn't do much just sit at home and watch football. Speaking of football the Bears finally beat the Packers on Thursday and I was really excited about that. The Bears haven't been winning to much recently and I can't even remember the last time the Bears beat the Packers. It was a huge win for the Bear and on top of al that it was an away game which makes the victory even more sweet.

Week 11 of School
November is just such a great month. We had another day off from school this week on Thursday because of parent teacher conferences. We're going to have even more days off next week. Next week we only have two days of school, Monday and Tuesday. This week was not very different from others other than parent teacher conferences. I had practice, I had large amounts of homework, and I had a couple quizzes. However, I can't wait until next week when I'll be chowing down on turkey.

Week 10 of School
We had a very short week this week. We had Wednesday and Friday off. The Wednesday day off was not as greats since I was swamped with homework and tests, but Friday was great because I was able to rest from the short but hard week. I also had the driver's ed final and I passed so now I only have to do range. On Friday I met up with some friends and we hung out .On Sunday I have a volleyball tournament so I'm excited to see how that goes. This week was a good week. It had a little of everything in it.

Week 9 of School
This week was pretty boring and routine. I had two quizzes this week and I feel pretty confident about both, not much other things happened or maybe I just can't remember. However I am way more excited for next week. We have Wednesday and Friday off next week. When I come home on Tuesday from practice I can go straight to bed and not have to continue my homework. Hopeful teachers won't assign extra homework since we'll have so much time off.

Week 8 of School
This week Halloween fell on Saturday so naturally tons of people cam dressed up to school on Friday. I did not dress up however because I do not really like wearing costumes and I do not like Halloween that much in general. On Halloween I met up with a couple old friends and we supervised their little brothers when they went out trick or treating. Now that Halloween is done we can all wait to fill out stomachs with turkey when thanksgiving comes.

Week 7 of School
I was so swamped this week. I had test after test and I barely got any sleep. On top of all of that I also have two projects for the weekend. These projects are pretty easy, but they are still going to take some time away from my weekend. Hopeful next week will be a little easier and I'll be able to come to this blog on a more positive note.

Week 6 of School
This week was very short week. We had Monday off, Tuesday was a normal day, Wednesday was PSAT day, so we got out early, and Thursday was the third Thursday of the month so we dismissed school early again. Then lastly we had Friday which was a normal day, but since it was Friday it passed quickly. The PSAT we took was to give us a taste of what the SATs are going to be like. To me the test seemed like an ISAT test we had to take back in grade school or the selective enrollment test. Hopefully next year when I take the PSAT test again I can get a high score and maybe receive some kind of scholarship. We'll see what happens who knows?

Week 5 of school
5 weeks in and we already have another 3 day weekend. Thank you Columbus for discovering America. This week was spirit week so the whole week was fun. The school concluded the fun on Friday with a great big pep rally and a spectacular homecoming game. I'm not sure if this is correct, but I believe we won to Lincoln Park 55 to 7. Homecoming was also fun, but I did not really like the Dj's selection of music. Maybe next year's Dj will be better.

Week 4 of School
The first month of school has passed and am I glad. Now that we're one month in school doesn't feel like a daily struggle anymore. School just feel routine now. There are still some struggle days though when I get tons of homework, but I get by. Its getting colder outside, so it becoming long sleeve and jacket weather which isn't necessarily bad. Also club volleyball started so that been pretty ruin so far.

Week 3 of School
Three weeks down thirty three more to go. Another good week has passed by and again nothing too interesting has occurs. I had my first tests for chemistry and trigonometry and I think I did pretty well on both of them. We also had an early dismissal day on Thursday which was pretty nice. It allowed me to get some free time during the week. I'm so excited for next week, because volleyball club practice finally starts and I'll be on the court again.
My neighborhood paper
My Neighborhood Paper
Final Draft
9/17/15
I wake up to the babbling laughter of children outside. I
look outside and see my neighbor has let her grandchildren play with some toys
in the yard. It’s alright, it’s about time for me to get up anyway. I get out
of bed and walk downstairs and get ready to make myself some breakfast. The
windows are open downstairs and a cool breeze
flows through the house as well as bright rays that beam down from the morning
sun. I make myself a bowl of cereal and sit down to begin the most important
meal of the day. I hear the hum of cars as they drive one by one past my house
on the busy street. As I finish my bowl of cereal I get up to put the bowl in
the sink. I see a squirrel hop across the top of the backyard fence through the
window above the sink. The squirrel then scampers off into a pine tree in the
flood basin. I then proceed to put on my shoes, pack my school bag, and step
outside.
It’s a relatively warm day, but if you were to step in
to the shade you’d get some chills. The neighbors have let their grandchildren
back in and all is quiet for a short period of time while there is a break in
the passing cars. The silence is then immediately drowned out by a gust of wind
that rattles all the green oak tree leaves eclipsing the street. I begin my
short walk to the train station through the cool sunny morning weather. As I
walk I notice that most of the passing cars are SUV’s carrying a child or
teenager with a backpack and a parent behind the wheel. They are all probably
heading to the high school down the block or the elementary school one block
further. There are a few people on the sidewalk, not too many. They are either
walking they’re dog, going for a run, or just simply enjoying a morning
walk. A lady walking her dog in the opposite
direction down the sidewalk approaches me. Not many people around here know
each other very well, including me, so we just exchange a good morning and a
nod as we pass each other. I can hear the noises of animals above my head in
the trees while on my stroll. It’s as if there is a loop playing of birds
chirping and an occasional cicada drone. The chirps however are quite enjoyable
and give you this good morning feel. Most of the houses I pass have the same
concept: two stories, a small backyard, a driveway, and a garage at the end of
it. Same goes for the cars parked outside of the houses. They are all either
sedans or SUV’s with Nissan and Toyota being the most recurring brand of car.
The grass is trimmed nicely on each lawn and it appears that each person cares
about how their house looks on the outside. This street must look nice for people
just passing by.
The noise of cars becomes louder as I draw up on the
highway and take a left towards the train station. I am now walking parallel to
the highway and you can hear the zoom of cars passing by on their commute to
the city. Also, occasionally you can hear the sound of a silver CTA train
clunking on by. Right after I turn I come up on the end of the sidewalk and
have to walk on grass and small weeds for a while. I can see foot prints in the
mud of this common used path. I cross a small side street and see groggy eyed
children walking out of their houses and into their parent’s car not yet ready
for school. As I get closer to train station I pass by my friend from
elementary school’s house. I immediately remember the graduation party we had
in his backyard, which can be seen over the short fence. Suddenly the green
path ends and I’m back on the sidewalk.
After one more block I reach the train station and the
noise of cars beeping and engines revving fill the air. It is quite nauseating
but it goes away soon as I enter the station. I swipe my card and walk down to
the platform where people wait for the train. I see mostly students waiting for
the next train. I spot my friend among the crowd of students and board the next
train towards the loop with him. I now wait for my arrival at my second
neighborhood, Whitney Young High School.

Week 2 of School
I'd say week two of school was better than week one. I'm starting to get back into the flow of school everyday, but it is still a little hard to wake up at six o'clock everyday. Especially after waking up at around eleven o'clock everyday during the summer. I'm finally getting a feel for each of my classes and I'm confident I will be able to handle them. However some classes will need a little extra effort, such as AP United States History. I'm also very excited for my club volleyball practices to start in two weeks. I will have to be careful though, I do not want to miss any homework or stay up until the late night doing my homework. I'll check back in next week and we'll see how week three went.

My First Week of School
Looking back at the first week of school I would say it was pretty solid. It wasn't amazing but it also wasn't terrible. I like my new schedule and I was able to memorize the proper routes and classrooms the first day unlike last year when I was a freshman. Last year I think I had to walk around with the schedule and a map for the whole week. Something peculiar about my classes is that they are all taught by male teachers. I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but I guess I will just have to find out. I'm excited for the future of this school year and I'm sure it will be a great one.
